Prince Edward County is home to Sandbanks Provincial Park, a wide range of wineries and breweries, small towns, cycling routes and lakeside beaches. A stay here often involves balancing time spent getting out into the County with time to actually enjoy where you are staying.
Cherry Beach Resort, in Cherry Valley, works well for both. Set on East Lake and minutes from Sandbanks, it gives families and groups a waterfront home base for days spent exploring, and plenty to do when they decide to stay closer to the cottage.

At 1,200 feet of private sandy shoreline, Cherry Beach gives guests room to make a day of East Lake without leaving the property. Families can swim, fish or take out a kayak, canoe or paddle board. There is also a pool, splash pad, playground and multi-sports court, giving guests a few different places to go when they need a break from the beach.
The resort is especially useful for groups travelling together. One family may spend the day at Sandbanks, while another stays close to the cottage with younger children. Some guests might head out to visit a winery, cycle County roads or spend time in Picton, then return to the water before dinner. No one has to spend the entire day doing the same thing in order to meet up again later.

For those travelling with dogs, pet-friendly cottage options, an on-site dog park, and a separate beach for pets, make it easier to include them in the trip. There are also boat-launch facilities, pontoon tours and motorboat rentals for guests who want to spend more time on East Lake.
By evening, the pace usually slows down. Dinner might be at a restaurant elsewhere in the County or cooked on the cottage barbecue. A campfire provides an easy place to reconnect after a day spent in different directions.

Cherry Beach Resort is not intended to replace everything Prince Edward County has to offer. Its appeal is that it gives visitors a place to settle in while they experience it: close enough to Sandbanks and the County’s many attractions, but with a beach, lake and family amenities of its own when staying put is the better plan.
