A Stoney Lake Tradition: Pine Vista Resort

June 2, 2026

Pine Vista Resort traces its roots back to 1945, when the property began as four cottages on the shores of Stoney Lake. Over the decades, the resort expanded to include a variety of accommodations and amenities while remaining focused on the cottage resort experience.

Located approximately 2 hours north of Toronto in the Kawarthas, Pine Vista overlooks Stoney Lake, a landscape of islands, bays, and Canadian Shield shoreline that has long attracted visitors to the region. Today, the family-owned resort offers a range of accommodation options, from traditional housekeeping cottages to larger resort townhouses and suites.

One of the hallmarks of a stay at Pine Vista is the flexibility that comes with fully self-contained accommodations. Each unit includes a fully equipped kitchen, while private decks and barbecues make it easy to enjoy meals outdoors. Many accommodations also offer views of Stoney Lake, while others overlook the resort's gardens, lawns, and towering pine trees.

Beyond the accommodations, Pine Vista offers a wide range of activities that make it easy to fill a day without leaving the resort. The heated outdoor pool and hot tub are popular gathering spots, while the sandy beach provides direct access to Stoney Lake.

Guests can also explore the water using the resort's canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, stand-up paddleboards, and hydrobikes. For those who prefer to stay on land, Pine Vista features tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, a fitness room, and a games room. More than five kilometres of nature trails wind through the property's 100 acres, offering another way to experience the landscape.

Families are particularly well served by the resort's recreation program. During the summer season, children can participate in the supervised Kids Klub, while a variety of organized activities and events bring guests together throughout the week.

More than 80 years after its beginnings as a small collection of cottages, Pine Vista continues to offer a classic Kawartha cottage resort experience centred around time outdoors, comfortable accommodations, and life on Stoney Lake.
