There aren't many Ontario getaways where you can spend the afternoon making turns on the ski hill, book a massage when you're finished and enjoy a gourmet dinner without leaving the property.

Hockley Valley Resort brings all three together in the rolling hills of Mono. Its ski area has 16 runs, while the resort massive spa (8,000 sq feet!) offers an entirely different way to spend the afternoon. Relax with a massage and facial treatment, and then opt for a manicure and pedicure to feel your best.

Come evening, the focus shifts to food: cabin is the resort's more elevated dining room, with an extensive wine list, while Babbo Wine Bar offers a more casual option for cocktails and locally focused fare.

Eganridge Resort sits on the shores of Sturgeon Lake, and in winter its scenic setting lends itself particularly well to doing less.

You could start with a walk along the lake, but there is also a compelling case for enjoying a leisurely morning in bed before heading directly to the spa.

Overnight guests have access to its steam rooms and saunas, including a sauna that can be reserved privately, and the resort even offers dining in the spa, meaning you don't have to change out of your robe for lunch.
