Fishing – It’s time…..cast that line!
With more than 250,000 lakes, rivers and streams, that combined, account for approximately 15% of the world's fresh water, is it any wonder that the province of Ontario is one of the top fishing destinations in the world? The diversity of our waterways runs the gamut, from small remote lakes that are icy cold and deep, to huge inland freshwater seas, and, from large wild rushing rivers to small tranquil streams. Ontario offers anglers a wide variety of freshwater sports fishing opportunities. No matter what style of fishing you prefer or what type of fish you are after, there is an Ontario fishing resort or lakeside lodge that will provide everything you need for the Ontario fishing adventure of your dreams. The lakes of Ontario have an enviable variety of freshwater sports fish just waiting to be caught. Here you can fish for northern pike, walleye, muskie, trout, salmon, carp, whitefish and bass. A few species of Ontario fish are some of the biggest in North America, and they are plentiful. Each year, over 8 million walleye are caught. Our muskies can weigh more than 29 kilograms (65 lbs). The largest recorded walleye weighed over 10 kilograms (22.5 lbs).
